For our friends in Hillsborough and Pasco Counties, Imagine Museum is offering a very special ticket discount during July, 2021. For only $5, anyone living in Hillsborough or Pasco County can visit and experience 34,000 sq. ft of exquisite glass art from around the world.
You might ask, What is glass art? In America, in the early 1960s, some very creative artists determined to make unique glass art sculptures. Up to this time, America had solely created glass for production or craft purposes.
The Studio Glass Movement
These artists started a movement called “Studio Glass” that would take the world by storm encouraging other creatives to follow in their footsteps making sculptures in glass that would communicate their individual expressions and point of view. Dale Chihuly is certainly known for his participation in this movement. However, there were many others who contributed techniques, styles, and innovations in glass that have guided this movement forward for the past 60 years.
Imagine Museum of glass has over 450 contemporary works on display that will blow you away by their size, expression, color and reflection. Learn more about our collection here. There are works from America, Italy, Czech Republic, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, and Sweden to name a few. Our 2021 theme is entitled “Imagine the World” which will be possible as you walk through our 20 galleries of pure genius and beauty.
