IT’S NOT ALWAYS BLACK AND WHITE

ON VIEW FROM JUNE 1st THROUGH 2022

“It’s not always black and white. There is so much hiding amongst the grey.”

Anonymous

“It’s Not Always BLACK and WHITE” exhibition is a conceptual demonstration of this age old saying.
Through an assortment of contemporary glass artworks executed in shades of black and white, we invite the viewer to further explore the artist’s intent beyond the physicality of the works. Consider the subtle use of complex imagery, the relevance of symbols and the diversity of subject matter to experience for yourself what is “hiding amongst the gray”.
The works curated for the “It’s Not Always Black and White” exhibition were selected from the TJF Collection intended for Imagine Museum.

Choi Keeryong

Choi Keeryong’s work examines the similarities and cultural differences that we all experience in relation to the objects around us and, in contrast to where we live. Reflective of Keeryong’s personal immigrant experience of growing up in the East and living and working in the West (Scotland), the South Korean artist combines conventional Asian imagery and shapes formed in glass with traditional British ceramics to further explore the connection, authenticity, uncertainty and symbolism of an individual’s cultural experience. imagery and shapes formed in glass with traditional British ceramics to further explore the connection, authenticity, uncertainty and symbolism of an individual’s cultural experience.
