Everything worth checking out at glassy gallery hop

This is your chance to cram as much glass art as humanly possible into a two-and-a-half-hour window.

1. Art by Glass Art Society students and members at the Morean Arts Center.

Visions in Glass: Works by Glass Art Society Members and Explorations in Glass: Work by Glass Art Society Students opened at the Morean Arts Center on March 9. 2. Chuck Vannatta blowing glass at the Morean Arts Glass Studio & Hot Shop

3. Work by GAS conference presenters at the Chihuly Collection

Only the best of the best get to present at major conferences like GAS. This is why we highly recommend seeing the GAS conference presenters’ work at the Chihuly Collection. There is a small admission fee here — $19.95 GA — but you’ll get to see blown glass, cast glass, and lit installation at this show (free for those with a GAS conference pass). 4. The MIT glass band playing instruments made of glass at the Chihuly Collection

Here’s one more reason to visit the Chihuly Collection Friday night: The MIT glass band is performing. We’ve seen their performance pics on Instagram, and we can tell you this is significantly more complex than blowing into your beer bottle (but hey, that’s fun, too). 6 p.m.,Chihuly Collection, 720 Central Ave., St. Petersburg, 727-896-4527, moreanartscenter.org/chihuly.

5. The unveiling of James Brenner’s ON EDGE at SE corner of 16th St. & Central Ave.

Brenner made 10 sculptures of glass and steel to mark and beautify St. Pete’s EDGE district. 6. Glass Masters Stephen Pon & Richard Logan at Florida CraftArt

Quest: Celebration of Glass is at Florida CraftArt through Apr. 20. This themed show, curated by Duncan McClellan and Mary Childs, is all about the journey. Go during the gallery hop for a chance to meet artists Stephen Pon and Richard Logan, and to see their work. 7. American glass at Craftsman House Gallery

Craftsman House Gallery’s American Glass World exhibition features work from more than 40 glass artists — all from the U.S. and Canada. Craftsman House Gallery, 2955 Central Ave., St. Petersburg, 727-323-2787, craftsmanhousegallery.com.

8. Glass art from Tampa Bay area artists at Imagine Museum

Shifting Sands – Glass Coast tells the story of Tampa Bay’s glass art community through the work of 13 local glass artists. See it during the gallery hop or any time through Jun. 2. 9. Local glass artists — Cecil, Stern, Jacobs and Gialluca — blowing glass at Duncan McClellan Gallery

10. A new Maker’s Space and Hot Shop

11. Glass art and sculpture from Michigan

This pop up art show features glass art and sculpture from Habatat Galleries in Michigan. Enjoy this little slice of Michigan on Central while you can. 2828 Central Ave., St. Petersburg.

12. Gott glass at Red Cloud Indian Arts

Gott Glass will be open in Tampa during the gallery hop, but if you’re in St. Pete, where most of the GAS conference action is, you can see an exhibition of Susan Gott’s work at Red Cloud Indian Arts.
